Alexander Road Associates in Psychiatry, Psychology and Counseling was founded by Dr. Charles F. Martinson in 1996 at its present location in Princeton.  Dr. Martinson brought to the practice many years of clinical and teaching experience in his board certified medical specialty, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. 

 
Dr. Martinson has acted as director of the multi-disciplinary group of mental health clinicians including psychiatrists, psychologists, learning specialists and substance abuse counselors serving primarily the mental health needs of children, adolescents and their families in the central New Jersey region.

 
Dr. William P. Hayes left his position as Chairman of the Depatment of Psychiatry at Hunterdon Medical Center in Fleminton NJ. to join the group in 2003 as co-director of ARA. Dr. Hayes is board certified in Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and is the current president of the Mercer County branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Mercer).

Our group has grown to include a broad array of clinicians including psychologists, clinical social workers, addiction counselors and professional counselors trained and experienced in all disorders affecting the mental health of children, adolescents and families in our practice community.

 
The group at ARA also provides consultation services to several agencies including school districts in the region, the Family Court and the Division of Youth and Family Services and provides psychoeducational seminars to several service organizations within the community.
